This is the warmest winter coat I’ve ever owned — and I’ve worn it skiing in -7 degrees Fahrenheit

I love a faux fur jacket, a structured pea coat and even a packable puffer coat. However, nothing keeps me warm in the winter like my Triple F.A.T. Goose parka. I’ve worn it to walk through massive snow storms in New York City and on a ski trip to Killington, Vermont, where it was -7 degrees Fahrenheit and on days when the wind was seriously whipping.
Triple F.A.T. Goose jackets are all insulated with premium down to keep you warm, even in the coldest temperatures, according to the brand’s website. Actually, that’s what F.A.T. stands for: For Arctic Temperatures. When the luxury brand launched in 1987, its styles first gained popularity in major cities amongst commuters who walk to work or at least walk to a train. However, the brand says its “down jackets and parkas have been battle-tested everywhere, from Chicago to Antarctica.”
Of course, it can’t go without saying that down coats and jackets may not be for everyone. However, Triple F.A.T. Goose states on its website that it strives to source all of its materials ethically and responsibly. (Plus, the brand stopped production of all new fur-based products as of 2021.)
Olevia Women’s Belted Down Parka, $560 (Orig. $700)
$560 $700 at Triple F.A.T. Goose
I got the Olevia Women’s Belted Down Parka nearly three years ago, and it’s still in perfect condition. I especially love that, over the zipper, it has magnetic “buttons” for keeping the jacket shut without having to snap or button it up the traditional way. It also has what the brand calls “storm cuffs,” which is a fabric at the wrists that you can pull down over your hands and stick your thumb through to keep the wind out. If not for those perks, I love that it’s completely waterproof and has inside pockets and a belt for added style. (Note: The Olevia Parka is 20% off right now.)
Ophio Women’s Puffer Down Jacket, $425
Additionally, this year, I got the brand’s Ophio Women’s Puffer Down Jacket. This one is a shorter style with a tad more fill power. It’s also water-resistant and features 100% recycled two-layer fabric, plus recycled down. So far, I’ve worn it in the city on 40-some-degree days to walk my dog and run errands — and it actually had me sweating a bit. I can’t wait to wear it for the first snowfall with my favorite jeans and winter boots.
Winter is probably my least favorite season because I hate the cold. Nonetheless, I love my Triple F.A.T. Goose jackets. They keep me seriously warm, and I always get tons of compliments on them. I plan to wear them for years and years to come.
