How to Watch the ACM 'Our Country' Special

From Country Living

  • Some of country music's biggest stars are coming together for a brand new special, ACM Presents: Our Country, to celebrate the genre amid the coronavirus outbreak.

  • The show will include virtual performances from Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, Keith Urban, and Shania Twain.

  • Gayle King will host the show, which airs Sunday, April 5 at 8 EST on CBS.

We were heartbroken when we learned that the 2020 Academy of Country Music Awards (also known as country music's "party of the year") are postponed until September due to coronavirus concerns.

Now, the ACMs are making up for the schedule switch by throwing fans a virtual party in the form of a two-hour television special called ACM Presents: Our Country. The show will feature in-home acoustic performances from some of the genre's biggest names, including Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, John Legend, Shania Twain, and many more. (Like, a lot more.) The event will also include a special tribute to country music legend Kenny Rogers, who died on March 19 at age 81.

Here's everything you need to know about how to watch:

What is the ACM Presents: Our Country Special?

The 2-hour show is a virtual celebration of country music. The special impressively came together in just three weeks. Some of our favorite country artists filmed themselves performing from home while in self-isolation. This means no stage lights, no camera crews, and no professional sound engineers—so it's sure to be an intimate show like we've never seen before!

The show allows fans at home to watch one-of-a-kind musical moments, like Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani belting out "Nobody But You" in front of a backyard bonfire, or Carrie Underwood performing "Drinking Alone" from her living room couch, wine glass in hand. (Yes, these are things we'll really see in the show, not just wishful thinking on our part.) Are you as excited as we are yet?!

Who is hosting?

Gayle King will be hosting the show. She revealed the news on CBS This Morning on Thursday, and took to Twitter to share her excitement.

"It will be a concert like you've never seen before and I know because I've seen the rough cut... it's good!" she wrote. "I'm thrilled they asked me to HOST."

Who is performing?

There are SO many talented singers in this lineup, so you can feel free to get excited right about now.

Performers include Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, Kane Brown, John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Sheryl Crow, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Tim McGraw, Old Dominion, Brad Paisley and Darius Rucker, Thomas Rhett, and Shania Twain.

Luke Bryan, Brad Paisley, and Darius Rucker will honor 10-time ACM winner Kenny Rogers in a special tribute. The show will also feature intimate conversations with some of the stars, as well as clips from favorite ACM moments from the past.

How can I watch the ACM special?
