Watch Drew Barrymore and Ariana DeBose introduce their dolls to each other
Asha meets Dylan Sanders.
This Barbie is emotional.
Ariana DeBose had a teary-eyed response to her Wish doll on Tuesday's episode of Drew Barrymore's eponymous talk show. "You have a doll," the host said, presenting DeBose with a doll of her character Asha from Disney's latest animated feature. "It’s official. Did you ever dream you would have a doll?"
An emotional DeBose responded, "No, I didn't."
"Girls are going to be looking up to you in this film and playing with your doll," Barrymore said.
"I take that very seriously," the West Side Story alum added. "And she’s brown and she has braids and freckles and I think that is so special."
"She has a visitor," Barrymore added, whipping out a doll of her as Dylan Sanders from 2000's Charlie's Angels.
The duo then had their dolls converse with each other, much to the delight of the audience.
Directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn and Chris Buck, Wish follows DeBose's Asha as she saves her kingdom from the sorcerer King Magnifico (voiced by Chris Pine). Victor Garber, Evan Peters, and Harvey Guillén also lend their voices to the film, in theaters now.
In addition to chatting about the animated feature, DeBose also shared how she handles rejection with Barrymore. "My bad days, on the couch watching reruns of The Good Fight," DeBose said of her coping method. "Christine Baranski soothes my soul. I don’t know what that’s about, but she’s very calming."
"I love eating carbs and watching TV," Barrymore said. "It makes me so happy."
"Everybody needs a comfort blanket," DeBose said. "Ice cream is mine, carbs are yours."
