Watch: Shark Dies After Tourists Pull It From The Ocean To Take Selfies

This is the disturbing moment a group of beachgoers pulled a shark out of the water - just so they could pose for selfies with it.

The shocking footage shows a group of men in the Dominican Republic rush into the shallows of the ocean to grab the large blue shark before dragging it onto the sand.

As the fish thrashes around, the men - including seven lifeguards from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana - throw a life preserver around its mouth to stop it from biting.

Unbelievably, tourists on the beach then sit and pose for selfies with the shark as it lay dying under the blistering heat on dry land.

The shark later died on the beach, where fishing is prohibited.

Hard Rock Hotel spokesperson Stacy Sorino said that “corrective measures” are being taken against the employees involved in the incident.

She told The Dodo: ”That is absolutely against our standards of protecting animals as we protect our guests.”

A baby dolphin died in Argentina earlier this year when tourists also pulled it from the water to take pictures with it.
