Ontario's police watchdog is investigating after it says a man was shot dead by police in Toronto.

The Special Investigations Unit has not released any further information on the incident at this time.

Toronto police, meanwhile, say they were in a downtown building searching for a missing person shortly before 4 a.m. when the incident occurred.
