Waterloo Region Asking Residents To Limit Fireworks Celebrations This Canada Day

·1 min read

Municipalities across the Waterloo Region are asking residents to limit backyard firework displays in order to respect physical distancing protocols.

The Victoria Day weekend in May saw an increase in the number of complaints across the region from people concerned about fireworks being set off into the early morning hours, according to a region news release. Out of respect for neighbours, fireworks should not be set off after 11 p.m.

As a reminder to residents, the region stated fireworks cannot be set off in municipal parks, sports fields, streets, laneways or on school-board property.

Public firework displays will also not be permitted, and no public events will be held this weekend. Residents are asked to consider alternate plans and to keep all celebrations limited to those within their households, the release stated.
