West Lincoln's business community is getting its time in the spotlight as the area's chamber of commerce doled out its Outstanding Business Awards.

The virtual event hosted by the West Lincoln Chamber of Commerce (WLCC) took place virtually Oct. 21.

Award winners received a plaque, a free year-long membership to the WLCC and a floral arrangement.

Winners for different categories include:

Small Business: Lloyd’s Concrete Floors

Medium Business: V & R Recycling

Large Business: Big Country Raw

Not-For-Profit Business: Cairn Christian School

Young Entrepreneur Business: Busy Moms Cleaning Service

Business Resilience: Touchdown Willy’s Tap & Grill

Township Coun. Cheryl Ganann serves as a board member at WLCC and was a sponsor of the Non-For-Profit Business award.

She said the board members felt it important to recognize how hard it has been for businesses during the pandemic.

The Business Resilience award was the newest addition to the list, she said it was added to celebrate businesses who survived thanks to their ability to change business practices due to the pandemic.

Ganann credited the community not only for their support of the business for their nominations, mentioning that Willy’s Tap and & Grill was itself nominated by community members.

“It's been an ongoing partnership between all of the avenues to try to make sure that our businesses survive through all the stuff that they've been going through,” Ganann said.

From the municipal perspective, she thanked West Lincoln chief administrative officer Bev Hendry and Denise Potter, executive director of WLCC, for their work in connecting the local business with each other and the community.
