Westminster terror attack: A defiant London goes back to work

In the aftermath of yesterday’s attack on Westminster, British citizens and residences stand together in the face of terror. On Thursday morning, Londoners bravely returned to work.

A minutes of silence was held in Whitehall this morning to remember the victims of the attack in which four people died including police officer Keith Palmer.

“Parliament will meet as normal. We will come together as normal. And Londoners – and others from around the world who have come here to visit this great city – will get up and go about their day as normal,” said Theresa May.

Acting Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Craig Mackey and Assistant Commissioner for Specialist Operations Mark Rowley spoke to the media after a minute’s silence was observed today outside of New Scotland Yard in London to pay respect to the victims.

Mark Rowley said: “He (Keith Palmer) was someone who left for work today expecting to return home at the end of his shift – and he had every right to expect that would happen.”

Sadiq Khan will lead a vigil tonight at Trafalgar Square.
