What's open and closed for the civic holiday long weekend in Waterloo region

With the civic holiday this weekend, there are changes to opening and closing hours of various places across the region.

Curbside collection is regular for garbage, blue box, green bin, yard waste and bulky items. Items must be out by 7 a.m.

Cambridge and Waterloo waste sites are closed for residential drop-offs on Monday.

Grand River Transit is open and will be operating on holiday hours on Monday.

Open and closed: Region of Waterloo

Welcome Spaces are open for Employment Services only.

Regional administrative offices are closed.

Region of Waterloo libraries are closed.

Home Child Care offices are closed.

Sunnyside Home reception and administration and the Sunnyside Wellness Centre are closed.

Community Alzheimer Day programs are closed.

Region of Waterloo International Airport is open.

Museums:

  • Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum is open on Monday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Schneider Haus is open on Monday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • McDougall Cottage is open on Monday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Open and closed: Kitchener

City Hall and all community centres will be closed.

With hot days expected, those looking to cool off can enjoy all City of Kitchener pools and splash pads, which will be open.

The Kitchener Market is closed on Sunday and Monday, but remains open on Saturday for the farmers' market from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All Kitchener Public Libraries are closed on Sunday and Monday.

All community arenas are closed on Monday except for Activa Sportsplex and Sportsworld arenas, which will remain open for pre-booked rentals.

Budd Park is closed on Monday, but the outdoor sports fields remain open for scheduled rentals.

Doon Valley and Rockway golf courses will be open on Monday.

Open and closed Monday: Waterloo

City Hall is closed.

Waterloo Service Centre is closed.

The community centres have differing hours on the holiday:

  • Albert McCormick Community Centre and Bechtel Park Manulife Soccer & Sports Centre are closed on Monday

  • Moses Springer Community Centre is closed, but the pool will remain open for scheduled programs on Monday.

  • RIM Park Manulife Sportsplex & Healthy Living Centre is open at 4 p.m. for scheduled programs on Monday.

  • Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex & Swimplex is open until 10 p.m. for scheduled programs and the pool is open at 12:15 p.m.

  • WMRC Community Pavilion (Adult Recreation Centre) is open on Monday.

Open and closed: Cambridge

City Hall is closed.

Cemetery and Fire Admin buildings are closed.

Community Centres:

  • Ted Wake Centre is open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and closed on Sunday and Monday.

  • David Durward Centre is closed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

  • William E. Pautler is closed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

  • Cambridge Centre for the Arts is closed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

  • Allan Reuter Centre is open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and closed on Sunday and Monday.

Pools:

  • W.G. Johnson Centre is open Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and open Monday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

  • John Dolson Centre is open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • George Hancock is open Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Monday from 1:15 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Ed Newland is open Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

All arenas are closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Cambridge Farmers' Market is open Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All Cambridge Idea Exchange locations have regular hours on Saturday and are closed Sunday and Monday.
