Where you're likely to have your passport stolen
Losing any of your possessions is never nice; but having your passport stolen abroad is a different level of annoying/upsetting/frustrating, not least because it's how you get home and your personal identity.
Which is why it's good to know where the most likely country in Europe is for your passport to get stolen, and where it would be best to whack the bum bag out and keep an extra eye on your things.
According to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the Express, more than 20,000 British passports were stolen abroad last year - with 5,000 of those reported in Spain.
Research also showed that over 6,000 emergency travel documents - the necessary documents for getting home without a passport - were issued in Spain, too, which suggests an extra 1,000 passports go missing in the country each year.
FCO advise travellers to have a photocopy of their passport in the event of it getting stolen, and to report it lost immediately.
This comes as TripAdvisor previously named Barcelona, Spain's capital city, as one of the pickpocket capitals of the world, with over 300 thefts reported a day.
