Still in need of more sun this year? Just because the schools go back, and it gets a little colder, doesn’t mean the sunshine is all over. Cosmopolitan summer all year long. So, here’s our September suggestions.

Ibiza, Spain (temperature highs of 24°C)

It might feel like the summer is over by September, but you don't have to ditch all hopes of a fun holiday thanks to the fact Ibiza is still hot in September. O Beach and Ibiza Rocks don’t stop just because it’s a little cooler - their events carry on right through the month. And 'What if I don’t want to party?' you ask. There’s always the Hippie Market, beaches and lots and lots of tapas to keep you company.

Athens, Greece (temperature highs of 28.7°C)

Whether you’re a Greek mythology expert or you just love archaeology, there’s no shying away from beautiful buildings and culture to soak up in Athens. The cosmopolitan heart of Greece, home to The Acropolis and The Temple of Poseidon, is a mere plane journey away. Fill your historical needs and more with a trip to Athens.

Fuerteventura, Canary Islands (temperature highs of 28°C)

Thanks to the fact the typical Fuerteventura winds have died down and the sun is blazing, September is the best time of the year to go here. As the oldest (and second largest) of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura has earned a place on our list. For couples you’ve got Corralejo. For families: Caleta de Fuste. And for a quiet, relaxing trip there’s El Cotillo.

Cancun, Mexico (temperature highs of 33°C)

Forget actual Las Vegas: Cancun is called the ‘Mexican Las Vegas’ for a reason. But if spring break doesn't sound up your street, there's the world heritage site, Chichén Itza, as well as opportunities to visit sea turtles and there is even snorkelling with whale sharks (if you’re feeling brave). With plenty of activities for thrill seekers, relaxers and historians, Cancun will not disappoint.

Sal, Cape Verde (temperature highs of 29°C)

We heard through the grape vine that the best time to see turtles nesting, laying eggs and hatching is September. So whether you want to lay back and relax with the wildlife around you, or be adventurous and hire a quad bike to explore the island, head to Cape Verde. On the way, stop off at Salinas Salt Lake and experience the natural spas or take a walk-through Santa Maria for all the desserts, cocktails and food you could wish for.

Rhodes, Greece (temperature highs of 27°C)

We all need a bit of Greek sun in our lives and the world heritage centre, The Medieval City of Rhodes, inhabits all things history, culture and nature. It’s the fourth largest Greek island and is also home to the largest medieval city in the whole European Continent, so there's no shortage of history here. Also, famous for their Butterfly Valley, you might even spot some of the wildlife along the way, if the sun/sea/sand wasn't enough to tempt you.
