Whitehorse man charged with possessing, accessing child porn
RCMP have charged a 25-year-old Whitehorse man with one count each of accessing and possessing child pornography.
They say there is no indication that children in Yukon are involved.
RCMP received information on Saturday from a member of the public that led to an investigation.
The man appeared in court Tuesday morning and has been released with conditions that include not having contact with any person under the age of 18 unless someone over the age of 25 is present, staying away from schools, parks and playgrounds, and not possessing computers or any other electronic device capable of accessing the internet.
Police say the man is not known to be affiliated with any groups that would increase the risk to the public.
They also encourage parents to monitor their children's internet activity and talk to them about its safe and appropriate use.
