Whitehorse man faces child pornography charges
A Whitehorse man is facing several charges related to child pornography. Curt Butler, 45, has been charged with possession and distribution of child pornography, as well as arranging to commit sexual exploitation of a child. He's also charged with firearms-related offences.
Whitehorse RCMP say they were tipped off earlier this month by B.C.'s Integrated Child Exploitation Unit. A police investigation in Yukon then led to Butler's arrest on Thursday. Police also executed a search of his residence, seizing electronics and media storage devices.
Police say they have no reason to believe at this point that any Yukon children have been victimized. RCMP say Butler is not known to be connected with any organizations or groups that would potentially increase public risk.
Butler appeared in court in Whitehorse yesterday. He was released on several conditions, including a restriction against going anywhere children are likely to be such as schools, parks and playgrounds. He's also forbidden from using any device allowing access to the Internet.
