·1 min read

A wildfire has sparked south of Merritt near the Coldwater Reserve, along the Coldwater River.

The fire was discovered Sunday, April 4 and is estimated to be six hectares at this time.

Although no official cause has yet been determined, it is suspected that the fire was caused by a person and not a natural event such as lightning strike.

There are currently ten active wildfires across the province, with the Coldwater River fire being one of two discovered in the past two days.

The Herald will provide further updates as information is released by the BC Wildfire Service.
