Windsor resident finds inert hand grenade, calls police

Windsor police have safely disposed of an inert hand grenade after it was found in an alley.

An "alert citizen" found the grenade near the corner of University Avenue East and Pierre Avenue around 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to Windsor police.

An officer from the Explosive Disposal Unit investigated and ruled the grenade was not a threat to the community.

The grenade was taken away for safe disposal. No foul play is suspected.

Police reminded the public not to touch any suspected weapons or explosive devices and to call 911 if they spot something suspicious.
