Windsor sex assault suspect arrested, found with drugs

Windsor police say a man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault that occurred as a woman was walking along University Avenue earlier this week.

Police say a 22-year-old woman was walking along University Avenue East, in the area of the 600 block, when a man on an e-bike approached her.

During her interaction with that man, police say she was sexually assaulted.

Police say the alleged assault occurred around midnight Sunday.

The police learned about the incident after they were called to a park bench on Riverside Drive East, about six hours later.

On Wednesday, police arrested a man matching the description of the suspect.

Police say he was arrested after a brief struggle.

It is alleged that this man was in possession of drugs when he was arrested.

A 34-year-old Windsor man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, as well as single counts of possession of crack cocaine for trafficking, possession of cocaine for trafficking, possession of ecstasy for trafficking and possession of marijuana for trafficking.

The charges have not been proven in court.
