Windsor woman's car impounded en route to cottage

A Windsor woman's trip to the cottage was cut short this week, after police say she was caught driving nearly twice the posted speed limit.

The Ontario Provincial Police say that an officer clocked a Chevrolet Cruze going 150 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on the Bluewater Veterans Highway, northwest of London, Ont., on Monday night.

Police say in a news release that when the vehicle was pulled over, the driver said "she was speeding in an attempt to make it to the cottage prior to sunset."

The 25-year-old driver has been charged with racing a motor vehicle. Her licence was suspended for a week in addition to her car being impounded for the same length of time.

The charge has not been proven in court.
