Winnipeg Jets coach Paul Maurice signed to 4-year contract

Jets coach Paul Maurice has been signed to a four year contract extension.

General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff made the announcement Wednesday morning.

Maurice joined the team in January as a temp after former Jets coach Claude Noel was fired following a five-game losing streak.

The Jets finished shy of the playoffs with 84 points this season with Maurice at the helm.

Cheveldayoff also said Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec will retain his place as a starter between the pipes.
