Winnipeg man, 49, charged in child-luring case

A 49-year-old Winnipeg man has been arrested and charged with luring and possessing and making child pornography.

RCMP investigators from the Russell and Roblin detachments looked into a complaint of indecent text messaging between a man and a boy and allegations the boy was being lured over the internet for sexual purposes, police said.

The man was arrested by RCMP on Thursday in Winnipeg, with help from the Winnipeg Police Service's internet child exploitation unit and the RCMP integrated tech crime unit.

He has been charged with two counts of luring, one count of possession of child pornography and one count of making child pornography.

He has been released from custody under strict conditions.

The name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim, RCMP said.
