Winnipeg's residential parking ban kicks in Wednesday morning

Snow squalls, blustery conditions cause morning school closures

The snow plows are coming, which means a lot of Winnipeggers will need to find a new place to park.

The city's residential parking ban comes into effect Wednesday at 7 a.m.

On Monday, the city also implemented a parking ban along declared snow routes between midnight and 7 a.m. The new ban extends Winnipeg's annual snow route parking ban by two hours.

As for the residential ban, you'll need to Know Your Zone to find out when the snow plows will be headed into your neighbourhood. If you're parked while plows are working there you could face a $150 ticket and be towed.

You can find your snow zone with the city's address look-up tool or by contacting the city's 311 information line by phone, or by email at 311@winnipeg.ca.

Tickets will only be issued between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. but people are urged to move their vehicles regardless. If your vehicle was towed due to the parking ban, contact 311 to find out where it is.
