Winter driving is done: Summer construction detours begin

Road projects begin on Regina's Albert Street, Dewdney Avenue

Now that motorists can say they made it through another winter, and the driving hazards that go with bad weather, it's time to start the summer construction detours. Regina has a few of note for the weekend:

- Starting Saturday (April 18), a contractor will be repairing water lines on Victoria Avenue between Rae Street and Retallack Street. The work is expected to take two days to complete. (Traffic will be detoured to 12th Avenue).

- Starting Sunday (April 19), a contractor will be doing crane work on Hamilton Street between 11th Avenue and 12th Avenue. The work is expected to take one day. (Hamilton Street will be closed between 11th Avenue and 12th Avenue.)

-

Starting Sunday (April 19), city crews will be replacing a hydrant on Albert Street between 3rd Avenue North and 4th Avenue North. The work is expected to take one day to complete. (Northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane.)

While the work is disruptive to traffic, the city noted Regina has a relatively short construction window and the work is important for the city's infrastructure.

The city is also reminding drivers to keep everyone's safety in mind and to slow down in construction zones and consider alternate routes to avoid construction.

The city provides traffic updates on its website.
