Winter storm and extreme cold hitting Ottawa

Snow clearing changes still 4 winters away

Environment Canada has issued both a winter storm warning and an extreme cold warning for Ottawa and the surrounding areas.

Winter storm conditions are expected to start this evening and carry over into Sunday, and an arctic air mass is expected to make it feel like minus 35 with wind chill,

Environment Canada is advising against all non-essential travel as there could be up to 25 centimetres of snow and winds up to 60 km/h.

Extreme cold warnings elevate risks of frost bite and hypothermia,the agency warns.

The areas where Environment Canada has issued a storm warning include:

  • Ottawa

  • Kingston

  • Prescott-Russell

  • Cornwall-Morrisburg

  • Brockville

  • Leeds-Grenville
