Witless Bay starts process to restart subdivision

·1 min read

Witless Bay council voted unanimously during the October 14 meeting to rezone #47-115 Dean’s Road from Residential Rural Zone to Residential Zone to accommodate an application for approval to develop it as a resident subdivision.

Deputy Mayor Maureen Murphy, who originally made the notice of motion back during the September 8 meeting, made the new motion to amend the plan, which noted that the amendment was “in accordance with the requirements of the Witless Bay Development Regulations and the Witless Bay Municipal Plan,” and “would be in the interest of the community.”

As per the motion, “the rezoning application shall include the entirety of the property owner’s land, including the parts sold earlier to other persons as unapproved building lots, and that the property owner advise the other property owners of his rezoning application and seek their support of it.”

Also, in order to subdivide the property, and develop or sell lots, the owner has to submit an application to the Town, which in turn must be approved, to subdivide the entirety of the land, including the parts sold earlier to other persons as unapproved building lots.

Councillor Fraser Paul declared a conflict of interest, as it was a development application and he had a live application before council.
