Witnesses sought in armed robbery at St. John's Subway

Police are looking for anyone who may have witnessed an armed robbery at a St. John's Subway location earlier this week.

Officers were called to Subway on Elizabeth Avenue near Churchill Square just before 10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21.

A masked man, armed with what police call an "edged weapon," entered the store and demanded cash, fleeing on foot before officers arrived.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said Friday there were several people who may have seen the suspect in the area prior to the robbery.

Investigators believe there were people who saw the suspicious-looking man in the parking lot shared by Subway and Marie's Mini Mart, between 9:30 and 9:50 p.m.

The suspect is described as wearing a dark hoodie at the time, with a light-coloured liner and a blue undershirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
