"Wizards of Waverly Place" Fans Made Selena Gomez's Alex Russo Trend on Twitter

Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place went off the air in 2012 (almost 10 years ago!), but the nostalgia for the hit show starring Selena Gomez is strong — so strong, in fact, that Selena's character, Alex Russo, recently trended on Twitter.

Perhaps it was the boredom of self-quarantine and social distancing that led fans to reminisce about the wisecracking character portrayed by Selena. One fan made a supercut of Alex's best moments, writing, "They just don't make Disney characters like her anymore."

It appears that Alex's impact was strong — and it has lasted nearly a decade since the show wrapped. The supercut sparked a flood of Alex fan tweets. "Alex Russo was the baddest b**ch, you cannot tell me otherwise," wrote one fan, who clearly appreciated the supercut vid. "Call me Alex Russo bc I do be writing reports on books I’ve never read," tweeted another.

"Alex Russo is 100% to blame for my personality and I’m not afraid to admit that," an Alex stan wrote. "Alex Russo made me the person I am today," shared another, posting a few memes to prove their point. Even Alex's bedroom decor made an impact. "As a kid I remember BEGGING my parents to put a fuzzy wall in my room like Alex Russo had on her bedroom wall," one fan reminisced.

Fans aren't the only ones missing Wizards. In September, Selena's costar and onscreen brother David Henrie said he and Selena still talk about a reboot of the show. “Selena and I have a reboot! We sit and talk about it all the time," he shared at the time. "It’s not formal. But Selena and I sit and talk about what would the reboot be. We have a whole take. We have a whole thing."

Disney, are you listening? Clearly the demand is there, so let's make some magic (sorry) happen and bring the Russos back!
