Wednesday, 8 p.m. 46-year-old woman assaulted near 118th Avenue and 102nd Street

- Tuesday, 8:15 p.m. 21 year-old woman sexually assaulted near 101st street 128th Avenue. Victim said a weapon was used, although no details have been released on what type.

The assaults happened within 10 blocks of each other, and in both cases the women did not know the man they say attacked them.

Edmonton police said Wednesday night’s assault happened in the parking lot outside an apartment building. The woman said she was walking through the lot when a man assaulted her.

Police said the woman tried to fight off the man and yelled for help. The man fled the area.

The descriptions of the male suspects in both cases are similar — a man of average height, medium build, dressed in dark clothing.

Staff Sgt. Shawna Grimes with the EPS sexual assault section said police have not linked the two incidents but are investigating that possibility.

“The sexual assault section is examining the reported details in this assault due to a recent sexual assault approximately 24 hours earlier in the same vicinity.”

“However, at this time we have not established a clear link between these two events,” she said.
