A woman has been charged with murder following the death of a 69-year-old in Herefordshire.

West Mercia Police said officers were called to reports that a woman had been stabbed in the village of Cradley at about 2am on Saturday.

The ambulance service attended, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the force added.

Police said on Sunday that Laura van Marle, 40 of no fixed address, had been charged with the murder of Susanna van Marle.

She was also charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a 73-year-old man during the same incident at an address in Finchers Corner, the force added.

Detective chief inspector Leighton Harding said: “Our thoughts are with Susanna’s friends and loved ones following this sad incident.

“The family are being supported by specially trained officers and have asked for privacy during this difficult time.”
