Woman charged in Scarborough hit and run
A Toronto woman is facing two charges after a pedestrian was struck and critically injured in Scarborough on Wednesday.
Toronto police say a man was struck by a vehicle shortly before 3 p.m. at Midland Avenue near Silver Star Drive in the Midland and Finch avenues area.
Police say a 38-year-old driver, travelling westbound on South Shields Drive, attempted to make a left turn to southbound Midland Avenue.
A 43-year-old pedestrian was attempting to cross Midland Avenue from the west side to the east side, south of the intersection, when he was struck by the vehicle making a left turn.
Police allege the driver of the vehicle left the site of the collision. She is charged with obstructing a peace officer and failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm.
The man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. His current condition is not known.
