Woman in ‘critical condition’ after being found shot on I-195 in Miami Beach, police say

A woman was found with multiple gunshot wounds on the Julia Tuttle Causeway Tuesday morning in Miami Beach, resulting in lane closures, police say.

Early Tuesday morning, officers arrived at the westbound shoulder of I-195, known as the Julia Tuttle Causeway, to find a woman who was shot several times, said Officer Christopher Bess, a Miami Beach spokesman.

It is unclear when or where she was shot, Bess said, noting police did not find any evidence of gunfire where she was found, including shell casings.

“She may have been shot somewhere else,” Bess told the Herald. He said 911 calls came in about the wounded woman shortly after 4 a.m.

Authorities say she was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder’s Trauma Center in critical, but stable, condition by Miami Beach Fire Rescue.

Police say the incident led to lane closures westbound on the the Julia Tuttle but all lanes were reopened around 8 a.m.
