Woman dead, man arrested following disturbance in Lethbridge home

A man is in custody in connection with the death of a 59-year-old woman Tuesday night in Lethbridge.

Police in the southern Alberta city said that officers responded shortly after 11 p.m. to a reported disturbance at a home on the 2500 block of 13th Avenue North.

Inside officers found a woman suffering from severe injuries. While emergency crews attempted life-saving measures, the woman died at the scene. 

Police arrested a 59-year-old man who was seen leaving the home. The man remains in custody pending formal charges.

Investigators say the man and the woman knew each other. The death is being investigated as a homicide.

According to police, the killing marks the second homicide in Lethbridge in 2022.
