SLO County woman dies after rollover crash on Highway 58
A woman died in a rollover crash on Highway 58 early Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Nipomo resident, 21, was driving a 1997 Ford F-150 down Highway 58 east of Highway 299 in Santa Margarita.
She was not wearing a seat belt, the CHP said.
CHP received an automatic iPhone crash notification for her location at 12:59 a.m., the release said.
Emergency responders found the woman “pinned inside an overturned pick-up truck.” They removed her from the vehicle and transported her to the Adventist Health Sierra Vista hospital by ambulance, the release said.
She died of her injuries at the hospital, the CHP said.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The agency said speed appeared to have been “the main cause” in the crash. It was unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor, the release said.
