Woman driving pickup truck hadn't held licence since 1984, police say
Chatham-Kent police say they spotted a woman driving a pickup truck yesterday who has not been licensed to drive a car since the year Brian Mulroney became the prime minister of Canada.
According to a news release, an officer noticed a truck in Thamesville, Ont., had an expired licence tag, which spurred a traffic stop.
The officer then discovered the woman did not have a driver's licence or insurance for the vehicle.
Police say they subsequently learned the driver had not had a valid driver's licence since 1984. They allege the plates on the car "were not authorized for that vehicle."
The truck was towed away.
A 63-year-old Bothwell, Ont., woman faces several charges including driving a vehicle without a licence and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
The charges have not been proven in court.
