Toronto man charged with 2nd-degree murder after woman dies in Scarborough apartment building

Police say a Toronto man has been charged with second-degree murder after a woman died in a Scarborough apartment building Friday afternoon.

Toronto police said they received a call to an apartment building in the area of Sheppard Avenue East and Kingston Road at approximately 1 p.m.

When police arrived, they found a woman with stab wounds suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Saturday, police identified the victim as 50-year-old Saima Khalid from Toronto. A 54-year-old man was charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death.

The man was set to appear in court Saturday morning.
