Woman in her 60s suffers life-threatening injuries after struck by vehicle

Shooting believed to be targeted shatters window at Planet Fitness gym in Toronto

A woman in her 60s was rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a vehicle in Scarborough early Tuesday.

Sgt. Eric Goldsmith, spokesperson for Toronto Police Service's 42 Division, said police were called to the scene at Warden Avenue and Bridletowne Circle, south of McNicholl Avenue, at about 6:15 a.m.

He said the accident occurred in the intersection. The vehicle remained at the scene.

The woman, a pedestrian, was taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre by emergency run. The extent of her injuries are unknown, but Toronto paramedics said she was in life-threatening condition.

Warden Avenue, which was closed in both directions from Finch Avenue East to Huntingwood Drive, has been reopened.

Toronto police's traffic services is investigating.
