A two-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway in Terra Nova National Park on Tuesday evening left one woman dead, say police.
Around 4 p.m. NT on Tuesday, the Glovertown RCMP officers got a report of a collision near the exit for the town of Terra Nova, in central Newfoundland. The highway was closed for several hours before being partially reopened by police later that evening.
In a statement released Wednesday, RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jolene Garland police said the collision was between a motorhome and a car.
"Occupants of the motorhome received minor injuries while the lone occupant of the car died at the scene," says the statement.
The sole fatality was a 62-year-old woman.
The RCMP traffic services' collision reconstructionists were on the scene, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has been brought in. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
