‘Person of interest’ in fatal Macon shooting has died, sheriff’s office says
A person of interest in a Macon homicide has died by suicide, Bibb County authorities said Friday.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said Wayne Anthony Fuller Jr., 44, had been identified as a person of interest in the death of his wife, 51-year-old Cotina Louise Fuller. She was shot and killed Friday morning, and Wayne Fuller Jr. fled the scene of the shooting in a gold SUV, deputies said.
The Spaulding County Sheriff’s Office spotted the car and stopped Fuller in the 100 block of Greenwood Industrial Parkway in McDonough, the sheriff’s office said.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said that’s where Wayne Fuller died. Jones confirmed Fuller was a suspect in his wife’s death. Jones’ office worked on Cotina Fuller’s death, but not Wayne Fuller’s death, which was handled by the Henry County Coroner’s Office.
Cotina Fuller was found shot multiple times Friday morning, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Officers were called around 11 a.m. Friday to the Fast Trip in the 2600 block of Riverside Drive. Deputies and paramedics arrived on scene to try to help the victim. She died before she could be taken to a hospital.
Authorities were investigating the incident Friday afternoon, and asked with information to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
