Woman killed in May 14 shooting near Tacoma’s 6th Avenue identified by medical examiner
A woman found shot to death May 14 near Tacoma’s Sixth Avenue business district has been identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The medical examiner reports Lynnwood resident Chantelle Grayson, 28, died due to a gunshot wound to the head near the 700 block of North Junett Street. Both the Tacoma Police Department and medical examiner are treating the death as a homicide.
On the night of May 14, officers were dispatched to North 7th and Junett streets after reports of a shooting. Grayson was found unresponsive and was transported to a medical facility. Tacoma police stated in a tweet that she died from her injuries at the hospital.
Authorities didn’t have updates on the investigation as of Monday afternoon, according to Tacoma police spokesperson Wendy Haddow.
