Police charge 45-year-old man with first degree murder after woman killed in Sarnia

Police have charged a 45-year-old Sarnia man with first degree murder after the death of a woman in the city.

Officers responded at a home on Lee Court around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday. Sarnia police said a woman had sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead in hospital.

The suspect and victim were known to each, according to police, who say that they do not have any concerns for public safety.

The suspect is in custody and has a court date for Jan. 19.

It's the city's second homicide of 2021. A 26-year-old man was killed last weekend, and an arrest has been made in his death.

Police are asking anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact them or reach out to Crime Stoppers.
