Woman killed at Vancouver's Cobalt Hotel

Vancouver police say a woman was killed at the Cobalt Hotel on Monday morning in the city's third homicide of the year.

Vancouver police are investigating the city's third homicide of the year after a woman was stabbed at a Downtown Eastside hotel.

Officers were called to the Cobalt Hotel, located in the 900 block of Main Street, shortly after 6 a.m. PT.

The female victim, whose name has not been released, died later in hospital.

Vancouver police Const. Lindsay Houghton says the Cobalt is known to police.

"The Cobalt Hotel has a long history in Vancouver," he said.

"We've been going there for calls of various kinds for many, many years. Officers are looking into all the motives and possibilities around this and certainly any drug connection is a possibility at this point."

A man also suffered non-life threatening knife wounds in the incident, which police don't believe is gang-related.
