Woman screams 'I voted for Trump!' at store employees

A woman shopping at Michael’s lost it and screamed “I voted for Trump!” when two black clerks inquired if she’d like to purchase a reusable shopping bag. It’s just one more ugly exchange to add to the list of emboldened, hate-motivated incidents that have occured since Donald Trump became the President-elect.

It happened the day before American Thanksgiving in a Chicago branch of the arts and crafts supply store Michael’s. Two black cashiers suggested that a white female shopper purchase a $1 reusable shopping bag for her multiple purchases. The woman declined and then launched into a tirade, claiming that she was being discriminated against because she voted for Donald Trump.

Local resident Jessica Grady was in the store and began filming the incident, which she later posted to YouTube.

“I voted for Trump, so there!” Screams the woman, “And look who won!” She yells at the employees and a crowd of onlookers for the length of the almost 11-minute video. When she notices she is being filmed by a Grady, the woman addresses her directly:

“I was just discriminated against by two black women, and you being a white woman, you’re literally thinking that that’s okay?”

According to DNAinfo.com, Grady was impressed with the calm demeanor of the store manager in the face of the verbal assault. On Saturday, Grady started a GoFundMe campaign with the goal of raising $400 to help the manager and her family at Christmas. That campaign has raised more than $20,000 to date.

In a note on the GoFundMe page, Grady explains that in the end, something good came out of the extremely negative encounter:

“There is so much you don’t see in this video,” writes Grady. “At least ten customers stood next to the manager and waited for the police. That is what shocked the manager and myself the most, that people actually spoke up. You had to be there to see how the people were united.”

Sadly, this isn’t the first time this woman has lost her cool at someone in the service industry. Back in June she was caught on video yelling at an employee of a Chicago area coffee shop in a similar manner.
