Woman sexually assaulted at Winnipeg's Notre Dame Avenue and Isabel Street

The Winnipeg Police Service is investigating what officers are calling a serious sexual assault that took place in Winnipeg on Friday.

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. when a 20-year-old woman was walking around Notre Dame Avenue and Isabel Street, and she saw a man who was not known to her.

The man made a brief comment before allegedly grabbing the woman's arm and purse. When the victim tried to break free, police report the man became aggressive and sexually assaulted her.

Someone driving by saw what was happening and yelled out to the man, who then fled the scene. The victim made it home and called police.

The suspect is described as being in his mid-30s with a large build and a full beard. He is around six feet tall, and was wearing a white baseball cap with a red logo on the front, and a dirty, torn T-shirt with white cargo shorts.
