Woman struck by airport shuttle bus sent to trauma centre with serious injuries

A woman in her mid-40s has been rushed to a trauma centre after being struck by an airport shuttle bus downtown.

Paramedics say they were called to the Queens Quay West and York Street area just before 5 p.m., where the woman had been seriously injured.

Toronto police say the woman was conscious and breathing when officers arrived on scene, and while her injuries are not life-threatening, "they are quite severe," Const. Jenifferjit Sidhu said.

Police first identified the bus as a Porter Airlines shuttle, but spokesperson Brad Cicero later told CBC Toronto the shuttle is in fact a general airport shuttle not operated by the airline.

Traffic was being re-rerouted in the area as police investigated, but roads have since reopened.
