WW II vintage plane lands in Windsor en route to Wisconsin

A vintage airplane used in the Second World War was a sight to see at the Windsor International Airport Thursday, and you can see it too on Friday.

The Spitfire fighter plane is making a stop in Windsor on its way to an airshow in Oshkosh in Wisconsin.

And Dave Hadfield, the older brother of Canadian astronaut and pilot Chris Hadfield, was the pilot of the aircraft.

"I built my first Spitfire model I think at about age 9," said Dave Hadfield, a retired Air Canada pilot in his own right.

"And then to actually get in one and be entrusted with it, and then have the delight of flying it, it's almost like the culmination of a flying career."

The plane's stop in Windsor is being hosted by the Canadian Historical Aircraft Association.

Those who would like to see the aircraft can view it at association's hanger at #104- 2600 Airport Road on July 20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for students with valid student ID and free for veterans.
