Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says Xavi will coach the Catalan club 'sooner or later', but insists the Blaugrana will stick with Quique Setien for now.

Xavi turned down Barcelona in January after meeting club officials in Qatar for talks and the Spanish champions eventually turned to Setien as a replacement for Ernesto Valverde.

The 40-year-old has since signed a new one-year contract with Al Sadd, although he has a clause which allows him to speak to Barca if the role becomes available.

"Xavi will be Barcelona coach sooner or later," Bartomeu told TV3. "All in good time. But right now we are not looking for a coach. We are with Quique [Setien]."

The former Real Betis coach signed a three-and-a-half year contract in January and despite some speculation he could be sacked, Bartomeu said: "Quique Setien will be in charge of the team for the rest of LaLiga and the Champions League.

"Our will is for Setien's contract to be fulfilled and for him to be here next season.

"When we went to see him at his home, we went to plan for the future."
