Celebrity fitness icon Jillian Michaels made headlines for all the wrong reasons recently after she made controversial comments about the weight of musician Lizzo.
Michaels questioned whether we should be “celebrating her body” because “it isn’t gonna be awesome if she gets diabetes.”
Her comments struck a nerve with many fans of the singer, including Whoopi Goldberg, who said, “I’m thrilled that she’s a big-figured woman” during a discussion of the controversy on The View.
The former Biggest Loser trainer posted a message on Twitter shortly after the backlash began:

Michaels later apologized for dragging Lizzo into a conversation she didn’t ask to be a part of in the first place.
Lizzo hasn’t directly addressed Michaels’s comments, but received praise after posting a series of photos from a recent seaside shoot with the caption “I love you. You are beautiful. You can do anything. (Repeat)”,
