New York woman hit by car in Macon, dies at local hospital. Deputies investigating

A New York woman died after she was hit by a car in Macon Friday, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Cameron Rodriguez, 44, was hit near Rocky Creek Road and Thrasher Circle in Southwest Macon around 11 p.m.

A driver of a Honda Accord was going west on Rocky Creek Road when they “suddenly saw the female in the roadway and attempted to avoid colliding with her but was unsuccessful,” deputies said in a media release.

An ambulance took Rodriguez to Atrium Health Navicent hospital where she later died, according to Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley. Rodriguez’s family has been notified, officials said.

The driver was not injured, and the incident was under investigation.
