Young Gatineau man crashes, rolls truck while texting, police say
A 21-year-old man from Gatineau, Que., suffered serious injuries after he crashed and rolled a pickup truck while texting on Monday, police say.
It happened just before 11 a.m. on Highway 366 in Val-des-Monts, Que., north of Ottawa, MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais police said Monday.
The driver lost control of the truck and veered off the highway.
The truck landed on its roof in a ditch.
The man was taken to hospital in Hull. His injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.
An ongoing police investigation has so far revealed that the man was texting at the time of the crash. Speed may have also played a role, police said.
