Florenceville-Bristol always expects and welcomes plenty of out-of-town visitors to its picturesque downtown, especially at the peak of tourist season.
But, the visitor strolling Main Street Monday evening was a bit shocking at any time.
Dianna Wasson said she and a friend were heading out just before dusk to water the town’s community garden when they spotted a yearling moose trotting along Maple Street on its way to Main Street.
In an email accompanying some photos, Wasson said the youthful visitor travelled along Main Street, passing the post office and Red Apple before crossing the street to continue in the same direction along the sidewalk.
Wasson said they last saw the “bewildered teenager” on the sports fields behind the Florenceville Middle School, heading towards trees lining the back area.
“Hopefully, the confused young animal was able to get into the woods from there,” she said.
