Queens District RCMP arrested an impaired driver after responding to a single-vehicle collision on the evening of June 23.
Police, fire and EHS responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Nickerson Pond Road in Brooklyn, Queens County at approximately 7:40 p.m. according to a news release issued by the RCMP on June 24.
Police determined that a grey GMC Canyon left the roadway and rolled onto its side. “Initial reports indicated that there were multiple teenagers in the cab and cargo bed of the truck when it rolled,”
Multiple youth were treated for non-life-threatening injuries by EHS at the scene. The driver, a 17-year-old youth, was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
“Police suspect that there may be a video capturing the vehicle driving and the subsequent collision,” according to the release. With the onset of graduation season and summer starting, police were reminding the public to drive responsibly and for drivers to be mindful of their alcohol consumption before getting behind the wheel.
