Youth tries to rob cyclist of bicycle on Frame Lake Trail

RCMP are investigating an attempted robbery after a youth tried to pull a cyclist off their bicycle Monday afternoon on Yellowknife's Frame Lake Trail.

At around 5 p.m., the cyclist was riding on the trail near the wooden bridge near the hospital when a male youth grabbed the bicycle's handlebars.

Police say the youth demanded the bicycle and grabbed the victim's backpack and tried to physically pull the victim off the bicycle.

The victim was able to break free and pedal away.

The incident was reported to police on Tuesday. The victim did not report any injuries.

The suspect is described as a male about 15 years old, with short dark hair and complexion, about 5 foot nine inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds. He had no facial hair and was wearing a grey hoodie.

Police say there may have been a second male in the area with the suspect, but no description was provided.
